Divide or Die by Kathryn Megan Starks

There are eleven different Megan Starkses on Facebook. We are a private people. We like to keep our profiles locked to ‘friends-only’ status, and one of us (the lawyer) doesn’t even have a public avatar to view.

From the profile pictures that you can see, notably, several of us are fat.

Two of us play softball, one for a Christian university and one for the Callway Co. team out of Georgia. A non-plural version of us, number 22, plays basketball for a high school girl’s team. She is notably taller than the rest of us and should not be considered the norm though some of our fathers played basketball when they were in high school.

Some of us have children of our own. We are first year Seattle attorneys-at-law, sorority girls, exercise physiologists, students, published or aspiring authors, mid-western housewives, construction superintendents, actresses, Los Angeles event photographers, and online gamers.

We are brunette or bottle blonde. We originated in the Oklahoma-Texas region and spread through out the years. We enjoy traveling.

More than half of us have or will attend Christian education institutions.

And finally, one of us—the most accurate representation—is a fictional character played by Marcia Gay Harden. Both tenacious and tragic, she is made beautiful by her capacity for love.
